이전 8월 29일 라이브방송에서 국제사업 보고를 드렸었고, 일렉트로닉스 워치(노동인권 감시단체)의 후속 소식을 알려드립니다. 전삼노에서 일렉트로닉스 워치와 2번 회의, 꾸준한 소통을 통해 삼성의 문제점을 알렸고, 워치에서도 이에 대한 소식을 아래처럼 알렸습니다.

일렉트로닉스의 국제차원의 진정 절차를 계획 중이며, 전삼노는 이에 대해 협조하여 국제적으로도 사측의 노조 탄압이 중단되도록 할 것입니다.

Electronics Watch builds links with Korean trade unions One of Electronics Watch's strategic goals is for workers to exercise their right to organise and access remedy. Affiliated public buyers use their leverage to promote freedom of association and collective bargaining in their supply chains. This includes enabling access for trade unions to organise and represent workers collectively, and address union busting. To support these efforts, the Electronics Watch team builds relationships with trade unions in production regions around the world. Monitoring Capacity Manager Aykut Kazanci visited South Korea recently, where he met with two trade unions representing thousands of electronics workers. The electric battery industry has grown rapidly there, although its future is uncertain as companies expand overseas. The terrible fire of 24 June at the Aricell lithium battery factory in Hwaseong was a tragic reminder of the cost workers pay to provide the world with electric batteries. Korean unions are calling for stricter health and safety standards in the industry, and better enforcement. In Seoul, Aykut met with the Korean Metal Workers Union (KMWU) to learn more about their Low Emission Vehicle (LEV) battery sector organizing efforts. KMWU is a national union with 190,000 members, covering industrial parks with SMEs, migrant workers, shipyards, and electronics. However, the KMWU say that the battery industry's anti-union attitude make it challenging for workers in this sector to organize. Improving health and safety in battery plants is a priority for KMWU, amid concerns that current safety regulations are not being followed. As well as the danger of fire and explosions, like the one at Aricell, union representatives explained that workers are exposed to hazardous substances and lack information about the impact these could have on their health. A high number of accidents and injuries are reported, including musculoskeletal disorders. High turnover and precarious working conditions are common, according to the union. Recent successes for KMWU include organizing at Samsung SDI in 2021-22 and getting a collective bargaining agreement signed there. Samsung SDI is the sixth biggest lithium-ion battery manufacturer worldwide. The union is also actively involved in the IndustriALL automotive industry steering committee and can help drive engagement with Korean car makers. Aykut also met with the National Samsung Electronics Union (NSEU) at the Samsung semiconductor manufacturing compounds in Giehung, where 36,000 of their members have been on strike for the last two months. They told him about the background to the strike, the problems reported by workers, and their demands to Samsung. Electronics Watch will continue to support workers and trade unions to demand effective human rights due diligence from supply chain stakeholders.

모니터링 역량 관리자인 아유크트 카잔지는 최근 한국을 방문하여 수천 명의 전자 노동자들을 대표하는 두 개의 노동조합을 만났습니다. 전기 배터리 산업은 그곳에서 급속히 성장하고 있지만, 기업들이 해외로 확장함에 따라 그 미래는 불확실합니다. 6월 24일 화성에 있는 아리셀 리튬 배터리 공장에서 발생한 끔찍한 화재는 세계에 전기 배터리를 제공하기 위해 노동자들이 치르는 대가를 상기시켰습니다. 한국의 노동조합들은 이 산업에서 더 엄격한 보건 및 안전 기준과 그에 대한 강화된 집행을 요구하고 있습니다.

서울에서 아유크트는 저배출 차량(LEV) 배터리 부문의 조직화 노력을 알아보기 위해 전국금속노동조합(KMWU)을 만났습니다. KMWU는 19만 명의 조합원을 가진 전국적인 노조로서, 산업단지의 중소기업, 이주 노동자, 조선소 및 전자 산업을 포괄합니다. 그러나 KMWU는 배터리 산업의 반노조적 태도로 인해 이 부문의 노동자들이 조직화하는 데 어려움을 겪고 있다고 말합니다.

KMWU의 우선순위는 배터리 공장에서의 보건 및 안전 개선입니다. 현재의 안전 규정이 준수되지 않고 있다는 우려가 있습니다. 아리셀에서의 화재와 폭발의 위험 외에도, 노조 대표들은 노동자들이 유해 물질에 노출되어 있으며 이러한 물질이 건강에 미치는 영향에 대한 정보가 부족하다고 설명했습니다. 근골격계 질환을 포함한 많은 사고와 부상이 보고되고 있으며, 높은 이직률과 불안정한 노동 조건이 일반적이라고 노조는 전했습니다. 

KMWU의 최근 성공 사례로는 2021-22년 삼성SDI에서의 조직화와 단체협약 체결이 있습니다. 삼성SDI는 세계에서 여섯 번째로 큰 리튬 이온 배터리 제조업체입니다. 노조는 또한 IndustriALL 자동차 산업 운영위원회에 적극적으로 참여하고 있으며, 한국 자동차 제조사들과의 협력을 촉진할 수 있습니다. 아유크트는 또한 기흥에 있는 삼성 반도체 제조 단지에서 전국삼성전자노동조합(NSEU)을 만났으며, 그곳에서 3만6천 명의 조합원들이 지난 두 달 동안 파업 중입니다. 그들은 그에게 파업의 배경, 노동자들이 보고한 문제들, 그리고 삼성에 대한 그들의 요구 사항에 대해 설명했습니다.
